Ecumenical Statement

At St. Clement Orthodox Christian Academy, we warmly welcome families from a variety of Christian traditions who desire an education centered on Christ and rooted in the pursuit of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness.

While firmly grounded in the rich spiritual heritage of the Orthodox Church, we seek to partner with parents from diverse Christian backgrounds in the formation of their children. We believe parents are the primary educators of their children, and our role is to come alongside them in a shared mission.

Our desire is not to replace a family's church, but to provide an educational community where students encounter truth, cultivate virtue, and grow in wisdom through the light of Christ. Rooted in Orthodoxy and open to all Christian families, we seek to nurture hearts and minds for faithful service to God and neighbor.

Our Statement of Faith

We believe in the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church founded by our Lord Jesus Christ and faithfully preserved through the apostolic tradition. We adhere to the teachings of the Holy Scriptures, the Apostolic Tradition, the Ecumenical Councils accepted by the Orthodox Church, and the teachings of the Holy Fathers.

The Holy Trinity

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three Persons are co-equal, co-eternal, and of one essence, glory, and majesty.

The Holy Scriptures

We believe that the Holy Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God and is authoritative in matters of faith, doctrine, and Christian life.

Jesus Christ

We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son and Word of God, who became incarnate through the Holy Spirit and of the Virgin Mary for our salvation. He is fully God and fully man, united without mingling, confusion, alteration, or separation. He suffered, was crucified, died, was buried, rose from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven, and will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and who spoke through the prophets. He sanctifies, guides, and sustains the Church and dwells within believers.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is the gift of God's grace through the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. Through faith, repentance, baptism, participation in the sacramental life of the Church, and a life of obedience to God, believers are united with Christ and transformed by His grace.

The Church

We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ, entrusted with preserving the apostolic faith and administering the Holy Mysteries (Sacraments). The Church is called to worship God, proclaim the Gospel, disciple believers, and serve the world in love.

The Holy Mysteries

We believe in the seven Holy Mysteries of the Church:

  1. Baptism
  2. Chrismation (Confirmation)
  3. The Holy Eucharist
  4. Repentance and Confession
  5. Unction of the Sick
  6. Holy Matrimony
  7. Holy Orders

Through these sacred mysteries, God imparts His grace to His people.

The Virgin Mary and the Saints

We honor the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Theotokos (Mother of God), who bore the incarnate Word of God. We also honor the saints who have faithfully followed Christ and serve as examples of holy living. We seek their prayers and fellowship as members of the one Body of Christ.

The Resurrection and Eternal Life

We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, and eternal life. The righteous shall inherit everlasting communion with God, while those who reject Him shall face eternal separation from His presence.

The Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed

We believe in one God, God the Father the Pantocrator, Creator of heaven and earth, and of all things seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only-Begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages; Light of Light; true God of true God; begotten, not created; of one essence with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and of the Virgin Mary, and became man. And He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, suffered and was buried. And on the third day He rose from the dead, according to the Scriptures, ascended into the heavens; He sits at the right hand of His Father, and He is coming again in His glory to judge the living and the dead, whose kingdom shall have no end.

Yes, we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father; who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.

And in one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.

We confess one baptism for the remission of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come. Amen.
